With just a few materials and a hint of time and effort, you will have constructed a beautiful macrame inspired DIY plant hanger that you made with your own two hands! This easy DIY adds your own flair and style to your home all while channeling chic aesthetics.
You will need 40 ft. of cotton macrame rope that is 1/8 in. /3 mm. thickness. The green hues from your plant will be balanced with the neutral tone of this cotton rope.
This toy teether maple ring made of natural wood works for this project and is a great sensory toy for teething babies. For this project, we’ll be using a 25mm wood ring.
We just love this tape; it gives our craft projects and packaging that special touch. Easy to use and tacky, the washi paper tape adheres well but can be re-positioned while crafting.
Acrylic Paint (Optional)
Customize your macrame inspired plant hanger with acrylic paints. Or don’t! This project is all you add your personal touch and decorate for your desired look.
These small oval beads will complete the modern look of this customized hanger.
What’s great about Etsy, is that they have variety and all things arts and crafts. Choose from an array of sizes. You’ll be needing 2 of these beads in hole size 10 mm.
Nylon Knotting Cord (optional)
Again, not a must, however, you should consider adding your own sparkle to your handcrafted works. I always try to leave my signature mark with some color for a finishing touch.
These scissors were created for sleek cuts and smooth precision. Also, they look really cool.
Step 1: Cut macrame rope and loop through ring bead
Step 2: Add the top bead
Fit all eight ends of the cotton macrame rope through the hole in one of the large wooden beads. Slide the bead up to meet the wooden ring-shaped bead. Tip: If you’re having a tough time sliding the rope through a bead, twist the end of your ropes as you push them through. If needed, you can also use a rotary tool to enlarge the hole of your bead.
Step 3: Separate ropes and oval beads
Step 4: Pair opposite ropes and add more oval beads
Step 5: Add the bottom bead
Step 6: Finish with a knot
To finish your plant hanger, knot the cords just under your last round wooden bead. Trim the loose ends of macrame rope as desired. Next, you can finally place a plant inside your DIY plant hanger.
The finished product: Perfection!
This super easy DIY looks exquisite and brightens up the room. Place this piece by a window so your plant can get some sunlight and don’t forget to water your plant!
