CONTEST: Share this post on Facebook and Twitter for a chance to win a FREE Hoodie from Sarcastic Me
With Black Friday Shopping comes madness, loss of logic and sensibility, and in extreme cases casualties. Do Black Friday right and safe by doing what all great moms do and plan ahead. Thankfully, you’re reading this page right now which means you’ve come to the right place to prepare and survive the Holiday.
Be aware of the sales going on before, during and after Black Friday. Remember that many stores have week-long events and an abundance of sales before the Thanksgiving. Note: These sales are usually better than Black Friday sales. Currently, River Island is having a Pre-Black Friday Sale.
Utilize the online world of shopping. Most of the in-store deals can be found online. Enjoy all the savings without the madness by conveniently shopping from the comfort of your own home. If Black Friday is too much for you, wait it out until Cyber Monday when the websites are re-stocked and the deals are still hot!
3. Do your research
Do your research. It is important to know what you want and need before you get sucked into the madness and the big shiny sale signs draw you in. Make a list of what you wanted to get out of Black Friday, set a budget and keep an eye on the gifts at the top of your list. If you plan on shopping in-store, visit the retail before Black Friday so you are familiar with the layout of the store and know where things are. Bonus: Try to get all of your Santa’s letters in from the kids before Black Friday so you know what to get them ahead of time.
Get steals by focusing on the brands that don’t usually go on sale. Sure, 7 panties for $15 at Victoria’s Secret may sound enticing, however, they have sales year round. Find the brand that sells those shoes that never go on sale you’ve been wanting for a while and see what they have to offer. Apple only gives discounts to students and goes on sale solely on Black Friday.
Become a member of the stores you want to shop at. Most of the time, members get exclusive discounts and extra offers just for signing up. This process is usually free and you get constant reminders of sales and discounts!
Shop for the upcoming year. Focus on the cold Winter you are about to embark on and size up on outerwear. You want good quality coats that won’t only last this season but next season as well. If you’re shopping for your kids, this is a key feature so that you don’t need to buy them a new coat every single Winter. Instead, invest in a good quality coat that will last a few years.
Think about updating your home. Black Friday sales are not all clothing. Need a new TV screen? Black Friday is the time to buy one! Been wanting a new laptop or have some towels that lost their softness and are looking a bit dull? Stock up on this day of savings!
9. Study The Prices Prior To Sales
Know the prices of what you want ahead of time. Many times, unfortunately, stores raise the prices right before Black Friday to make it look like you’re getting a good deal when really you’re getting around 5% percent off the original price. Do your homework so you don’t get tricked into paying more than you should.
10. Be organized
Be organized. Fill out a Black Friday shopping sheet. This will help target your focus on only what you really need. Whether it’s writing out your Christmas shopping list and getting all the gifts you need or just filling out a sheet that organizes stores, sales, and product.
11. Know which lines fill up fast and plan ahead.
Know which lines fill up fast and plan ahead. If you want that huge screened, curved new TV that is finally on sale, plan on staying in that line for hours. Know what’s worth waiting for and not. Make sure you get the early bird specials and not spend your whole night in one store. Some sales end by 9 AM the morning after Black Friday, get to them quickly so you don’t miss out!
12. Divide and Conquer.
Divide and Conquer. Recruit a trustable shopping buddy and split up your lists so you can collectively go through more stores together. Arrange a plan where you can get listed items for each other and strategically carry out the mission.
After all, you have prepared all that you can and survived the night. The last thing you need to do is get a good nights rest. Drink a nice cup of chamomile tea to relieve your stress from shopping madness and sleep the whole day off.
Happy holidays from the FFF Team!
